Dana,
Thanks for the rec! Whitehorse...OK!

Lori,
Makes me think that perhaps B&Bs are these sort of psychological petrie dishes for families and couples with troubled inner lives....

Sheryl/Taste T.O.,
Always grateful for the mention!

Martha,
omg, that's BAD! Caramelized walnuts for breakfast! And unsolicited marital counselling - can't decide which is worse!!!

Well, there was the woman who ran the lovely B & B who actually cooked pretty well (though woe to you if you didn't eat her caramelized walnuts)...who, after I left a day before my fiance did, for work reasons, that she thought we didn't belong together.

Yes, I'm sure there's several books worth of B&B horror stories waiting to be written.

I remember one where they'd called themselves an inn, so charged for breakfast--an exorbitant amount. I had to suffer through a screaming match between the owner and her daughter, then she admitted she'd forgotten we ordered breakfast, so she was going out to buy us yogurt and granola while we waited to check out and leave. She refused to refund us the breakfast money. I was LIVID. I ate the f--ing yogurt.

I'm not a B&B person - I'm misanthropic in the morning but I can tell you that the Inn on the Lake in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada has an amazing breakfast and an even better dinner. It's the only B&B type place I've ever liked.
