Don't know if you'll see this in time for this trip, but we love a little bistro in the East Village, Lucien. Wonderfully authentic French bistro food in a comfortable, friendly place. We eat there every time we're in New York. Be sure to try the endive salad with walnuts and blue cheese. I like it so much, I reconstructed it at home.
